Kinetic fire performance of an Olav Lunde sculpture, featuring an intense blaze emanating from a rusted industrial metal artwork during a public display.
A figurative metal sculpture by Olav Lunde, standing on a massive circular gear base, is shown mid-performance as fire burns intensely within its rib-like mechanical structure.
The aftermath of Olav Lunde's fire performance shows a blackened, skeletal figurative sculpture standing on its heavy gear-shaped base, with remnants of ash and soot on the pavement in front of an old brick building.

"Where am I?"

Permanent site specific installation for Kulturkvarteret Hallarna, Norrköping | 2013

Stainless steel, black steel and lighting

"Where Am I?" (Var är jag?) is a 2.8-meter tall sculpture that explores questions of place, identity, and direction. The title can be interpreted on many levels—Where am I in my life? In my ambitions? In this city? In the universe?

With its slightly odd and questioning expression, the figure invites passersby into a moment of personal reflection. It is made entirely of steel, partly from repurposed machine parts, giving it a quiet connection to both industry and reuse.

The sculpture is permanently installed in the inner courtyard of Hallarna, Norrköping’s cultural quarter. It was unveiled in a fire-lit ceremony, where falling ash drifted through the courtyard like black snow—a striking and poetic setting for the work’s introduction.

Quiet, approachable, and thought-provoking, Where Am I? stands as a contemplative companion in a vibrant cultural environment.
