Do You See the Leaves for All the Trees?
Liljevalchs Konsthall, Stockholm – Spring Salon, 2012
As part of the large-scale collective installation Do You See the Leaves for All the Trees? at Liljevalchs Konsthall, I contributed a sculptural metal piece: a single leaf—cut and forged from steel—inhabited by tiny knights locked in battle with a towering insect.
The work stood out distinctly among the more traditional materials used in the exhibition. Where many leaves were painted, carved, crocheted or woven, mine introduced a narrative scene in raw metal: detailed, tense, and unexpected. The piece balanced craft and storytelling, creating a dramatic miniature world on the surface of a leaf.
The exhibition gathered around 2,000 artists and makers from across Sweden, each contributing a leaf measuring 80 x 50 cm. Together, these leaves formed a vast forest that filled Liljevalchs’ three main halls—diverse in form, rich in expression, and unified in theme.
